    About JCB

JCB is a family-owned manufacturer based in Staffordshire, producing heavy equipment and farm machinery worldwide. JCB builds construction equipment across many categories, including loader backhoes, excavators, telehandlers, wheel loaders, and generators. JCB also makes Dieselmax and Ecomax engines and a range of attachments.

    JCB History

Joseph Cyril Bamford founded JCB in 1945 in a garage in Uttoxeter to make tipping trailers for farmers. JCB grew to become the world’s third-largest construction equipment manufacturer by volume.

The company invented the first backhoe loader in 1953 and says it produces nearly half of all backhoes sold today. JCB also created the first telescopic handler concept in 1977.

    JCB Machines Today

Its vast lineup includes the Loadall range as well as the Rotating Telehandler. The latter’s 558-210R and 558-260R PRO models have a maximum lift capacity of 5,800 kilograms (12,787 pounds), a maximum lift height of 25.5 metres (83.6 feet), and a maximum reach of 21.4 m (70.2 ft).

JCB is also known for its Teletruk, a forklift truck with a telescopic boom that was developed in 1997. The company says the Teletruk offers the combined functionalities of a mast forklift, skid-steer loader, compact telescopic handler, rough terrain forklift, and compact wheel loader.

Ever the innovator, JCB also builds wheel and track skid steers with a single Powerboom arm instead of conventional dual arms, allowing for easier entry into the cabin via a side door. Another signature development, the company’s Teleskid, is a skid-steer loader with a telescoping boom.

    JCB Sustainability Efforts

In recent years, JCB has focused increasingly on building more eco-friendly machines. The company claims to be the first equipment maker to have developed a 20-tonne (22-U.S.-ton) tracked excavator powered by a hydrogen fuel cell and the first to enter an electric mini excavator, the 19C-1E, into production. The company’s compact equipment range features several electric models, including a Loadall telehandler, Teletruk forklift truck, scissor lifts, articulated boom lifts, and a mini dumper.

JCB has also developed a highly efficient hydrogen combustion engine that does not produce carbon emissions. The manufacturer has prototyped it for loader backhoes, telehandlers, generators, Mercedes vans, and trucks. JCB also created a hydrogen refuelling unit for use on the work site.
