French crane rental company Foselev, based in Aix-en-Provence, supplies lifting equipment to the construction, industrial, and energy sectors. The firm recently acquired a mix of 3-, 4-, and 5-axle Grove cranes and added them to its 450-crane hire fleet, which is one of the largest in Europe and already includes more than 100 Grove cranes.
Why Choose Grove Cranes?
The cranes were chosen for their compact footprints, ease of transport, and long booms, which give them the versatility to work on projects for multiple industries. Foselev’s new 3-axle cranes are replacing older 2-axle models to increase the lifting capacity of the lower end of the fleet.
“Grove cranes are one of the foundations of our fleet; we enjoy using them, and we particularly like their variety of long booms and configurations,” says Eric Stroppiana, operational director of the lifting, transport, and handling division at the Foselev Group. “The cranes can easily put in 1,200 hours a year. The people we work with at Grove are fantastic, and we get excellent customer service. There are over 100 Grove cranes in our fleet, and we expect that number to continue growing,”
Grove All-Terrain Crane Capabilities
On the larger end of Foselev’s new cranes is the 5-axle, 120-tonne (132-U.S.-ton) GMK5120L all-terrain crane. The GMK5120L has a 66-metre (216.5-foot) boom and can carry up to 14.6 t (16 U.S. t) of counterweight in a 12 t (13.2-U.S.-t) per-axle configuration or 3.1 t (3.4 U.S. t) of counterweight in a 10 t (11 U.S. t) per-axle configuration.
The 4-axle, 100-t (110-U.S.-t) GMK4100L-2 all-terrain crane has a width of 2.55 m (8.4 ft) and the Megatrak suspension system, which enables it to manoeuvre in tight spaces. It can carry 6.8 t (7.5 U.S. t) of counterweight in the taxi configuration.
